About your English classes
What is included in the price?
I will provide all lesson materials. At the end of your class you will also receive a written review of everything studied in your English lesson. This is to ensure that you have an accurate record of new language.
What happens in a typical Skype or face-to-face lesson?
Content
Whether you choose to take lessons on Skype or face-to-face, the content and format will be the same. Each English lesson is designed to suit individual student needs. We will discuss your aims and assess your level in the first lesson. I will then plan a syllabus to meet your requirements.
In class, I use a mixture of coursebook material, worksheets written by myself and newspaper articles, film clips and Ted talks etc.
Structure
Many students like to receive the lesson material before the lesson, this could be a reading task, a listening extract or maybe some conversation questions to think about. During the online or face-to-face lesson the material will be discussed and new vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar covered. The student will be encouraged to develop ideas and articulate opinions. I will note both good examples of English language use and errors which may then be corrected immediately, at the end of the lesson or given to the student as a self-correction exercise. All English lessons are highly communicative from start to finish.
Will I have homework?
This is entirely your decision. Many students request homework and gain a great deal from reviewing the lesson content in their own time. As your teacher, I will gladly correct your work and answer any queries that may arise. I recommend that you take advantage of this service but homework isn't obligatory.
What happens if I am late for my Skype or face-to-face lesson?
I will wait for 10 minutes. If you are later than this then you will lose your lesson and payment.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please inform me 24 hours prior to your lesson and a new lesson time will be arranged. Failure to do this will result in loss of lesson and payment.
I hope you understand that I will need time to fill your lesson slot if you are unable to attend.
Please contact me via email with any questions.
